They can operate in any licences. NovaOS apps are local and undistributed. Once they are installed or created, they follow the license specified inside them. If unspecified, they follow the MIT license.
Where does NovaOS save the files?

NovaOS, by default, is totally local. It doesn't store any data online. This provides immense security advantages. All files are encrypted (AES symmetric key encryption), compressed (lossless) and get saved efficiently in the browser IndexedDB.
Is my files secure in NovaOS?

NovaOS uses the AES-GSM encryption method to locally encrypt every single one of your files. After you set a password, all your files are safely encrypted and stored in your browser. Making it impossibly hard to decrypt them if you used a diverse and long password.
